Quality engineering pay depends heavily on industry and certification. In regulated, high-stakes environments — automotive, aerospace & defense, medical device — a quality engineer who knows the standards cold is worth a clear premium.

The realistic 2026 picture:

• Average: ~$100,000–$105,000
• Typical range: ~$84,000 (25th percentile) to ~$134,000 (75th percentile)
• Manufacturing-specific, senior: Glassdoor's manufacturing quality engineer data runs higher, averaging ~$128,000 with the top quartile clearing $158,000

• Certifications and standards. Hands-on command of IATF 16949 (automotive), AS9100 (aerospace), or ISO 13485 (medical device) moves a candidate up the range fast.
